For the past few weeks we have been celebrating Chinese New Year. This project is a fond favourite at Kew Montessori celebrating our cultural diversity through a series of eating, dancing, music and storytelling. The children have enjoyed counting the 12 signs of the zodiac, doing Chinese writing, sampling some delicious fried rice, lion dancing and acting out the story of how zodiac signs were chosen. Perhaps the most popular of activities however was our Chinese restaurant ‘The Golden Monkey’. The name was chosen by the children and we have had budding chefs cooking noodles and hungry customers queuing up to sample them.
